Biking in Durango, Colorado

Durango has been a mountain biking town since the sport was young. The area hosted the first UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in 1990, and the trail network has only grown since. Riders of every level find something here: the Animas River Trail is a paved path running roughly seven miles through town and connecting to natural surface trails, while Horse Gulch and Overend Mountain Park offer miles of singletrack minutes from downtown. For a bigger day, the Hermosa Creek Trail runs about 19 miles through the San Juan National Forest, following the creek through forest and canyon. Our property on Lightner Creek Road sits about 10 minutes from town and the west side trails, with the backcountry routes a short drive north. Several bike shops downtown rent full suspension and hardtail bikes by the day, and staff can point you to trails that match your ability.
